Condom Facts #3

  • YOUNGER PEOPLE are less likely to use condoms properly than older people. This is probably due to lack of experience, so get some condoms and practice on yourself (or some bananas!). See How To Use A Condom.

  • SURVEYS SHOW that a small percentage of couples will have an unplanned pregnancy during the first year that they use only condoms. No method of contraception, including condoms, is 100 per cent effective. Condoms are, however, the only form of contraception that gives users protection from the spread of STDs. Some medical professionals therefore recommend using condoms in combination with another form of contraception (eg the pill). This gives users protection from both the spread of STDs and added protection from unwanted pregnancy.
